Throughout history and all across the world, lotteries have been used as a way to help finance projects, such as urban repairs and development. In Taiwan, 40% of the lottery ticket sales go towards charities.
On top of this, an anonymous woman who had been unemployed for the last two years won the national lottery. Her prize amounted to about $15.3 million. She decided to give $3.13 million to 19 different charities. It is estimated that this has the potential to help about 44,000 people. The act of giving to others is intangible. However the feeling of making a real difference is quite priceless.

Back in June, a woman won the Taiwan Power Lottery of NT$490 million (approximately $15.3 million American). This would have been an amazing story in and of itself, because the woman from Taichung City had been jobless for the past two years. But a week ago, the woman (who chose to remain anonymous when she won the lottery) decided to give NT$100 million ($3.13 million American) to 19 different charities.
