Coworkers in Arkansas Win $10,000















A group of eight coworkers from a Fort Smith Baldor plant won $10,000 from Arkansas' Powerball drawing.

Danny Hopper and his wife claimed the prize on behalf of everyone in his lottery pool. It's common for coworkers to organize group pools. This helps increase the chances of winning. Baldor Workers Win $10,000 Powerball Prize in Fort Smith

Eight lucky coworkers from the Fort Smith Baldor plant are splitting a $10,000 Powerball prize.

Danny Hopper of Greenwood and his wife claimed the prize on behalf of his coworkers at the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery Claim Center in Springdale. Hopper says the ticket was purchased at the Jet-Away #3 on Highway 271 South in Fort Smith. The Baldor group's winning numbers came up at the Saturday night Powerball drawing in Orlando, FL. The eight winners will split the prize, which after tax will put $850 in each of their pockets.

A Lottery Winner in Taiwan Donated $3 Million to Charity




 Throughout history and all across the world, lotteries have been used as a way to help finance projects, such as urban repairs and development. In Taiwan, 40% of the lottery ticket sales go towards charities.
On top of this,  an anonymous woman who had been unemployed for the last two years won the national lottery. Her prize amounted to about $15.3 million. She decided to give $3.13  million to 19 different charities. It is estimated that this has the potential to help about 44,000 people. The act of giving to others is intangible. However the feeling of making a real difference is quite priceless.

Taiwanese Lottery Winner Gives More Than $3 Million to Charity


Back in June, a woman won the Taiwan Power Lottery of NT$490 million (approximately $15.3 million American). This would have been an amazing story in and of itself, because the woman from Taichung City had been jobless for the past two years. The Lottery As a Business Booster for Turkish Companies


Companies in Turkey have recognized the value of lottery drawings as a way to spur business by attracting more customers. The national lottery of Turkey is called Milli Piyango, or MPI. They've received numerous requests from private sector businesses to hold drawings and lotteries. Approved companies include: Coca-Cola, Avea, Proctor & Gamble, Unilever, Finansbank, Garanti Bank, Akbank, Isbank and Adese.

Turkish companies offer lottery drawings to attract customers

Many companies have applied to the MPI for a lottery authorization. Between Jan. 1 and Aug. 18 of this year, 453 companies received permission from the MPI to hold a lottery, including 443 commercial enterprises, nine associations and one other institution.
The lotteries authorized through Aug. 18 are expected to disburse 46.5 million Turkish Liras in prizes and bonuses. Read the whole story

2 Months Left To Claim $12,000,000 Lottery Prize


A winning SuperLotto PLUS lottery ticket, worth $12m, was purchased about 4 months in a Barstow, CA shop. The winner only has 180 days to claim the large prize. Hopefully the lucky winner will come forward. Here are the details as reported by the California Lottery.

Only Two months Left for $12 Million Lottery Ticket Sold in Barstow

SACRAMENTO – It’s been four months since a lucky California Lottery player purchased a SuperLotto Plus® jackpot-winning ticket in Barstow, and Lottery officials are still waiting for the owner or owners of that ticket to come forward. The prize is worth $12 million to the big winner – but only for two more months.

The winning ticket was purchased for the April 24 draw at Barstow Station Ice Cream, which located at 1611 East Main Street in Barstow. The lucky retailer received a bonus of one-half percent, or $60,000, for selling the jackpot-winning ticket. The winning numbers are 25, 27, 39, 6, 15 and the Mega number is 17.

The California Lottery would like to remind the winner to sign the back of the ticket, keep the ticket in a safe place and contact Lottery officials or visit their local Lottery District Office as soon as possible. The New 25 Year Old Millionaire Hid the Winning Lottery Ticket in her Bra

Hey, it's a great spot to hide something like a winning lottery ticket. She's a young new Canadian Millionaire! When the clerk told her she won 1 million dollars - she grabbed the ticket and stuffed it in her bra. Here's the story from CNews. Can you tell she's excited to be new lottery winner?

Million-dollar lottery winner hid ticket in her bra

WINNIPEG -- Alicia Jongstra received her big cheque from Western Canada Lottery Corporation officials at the Delta Hotel in downtown Winnipeg after striking it rich as the sole winner of a $1-million Maxmillions prize in the June 18 draw.

The 24-year-old Winnipegger, who works in a group home with disabled young adults, said she found out she was a millionaire when she stopped for gas at the North Main Co-op on her way to work and checked her ticket.

“I heard the ‘woo-hoo’ and thought I’d won 10 bucks but the lady beside me could see the screen and told me I’d won a million,” Jongstra. “I immediately took the ticket and stuffed it down my bra so nobody could take it away from me.”

Jongstra, who turns 25 next week, said she plans to use her new cash to get laser eye surgery and to build a home in the country near Stony Mountain where she grew up. Read the whole story...
